St Augustine 2017: Day 5 and 6 {Obi’s and Old Town}

Rather than shopping for our “girl time” this trip, Britt and I decided to have breakfast together. Zach was only able to get a tee time for his golf with Kye at 10:30 so it just wouldn’t be possible to fit in golf and shopping! Britt was completely happy with breakfast…especially when she saw what we were going to wear. She LOVES to match me and I was pumped to find these tops at Old Navy 😉 We also wore our hair the same so we could be twins 😉 I ADORE this phase where she’s all about her mama. I hope I set an example that she only continues to want to copy.

She wanted pancakes and OMG this place did NOT disappoint! And our total for our bill was only $8.50, including tip!

Being silly with Mama

I couldn’t resist: I ordered a s’mores pancake!

A.Mazing.

If you visit St Augustine DEF hit up Sea Oats!!!

Such a fun morning together!

Ready for their golf fun!

While the boys were gone we opted to rest. I had to call back into the MD Live people. I was on amoxicillin and it caused me to have THRUSH. Like yeast IN MY MOUTH. PLUS my ear was killing me. Basically I was miserable and just needed a day off. I didn’t let all the misery affect our trip, but was at a point where I just couldn’t push through anymore. It worked out great that it was the day Z and Kye went golfing and that the girls were perfectly content to snuggle on the couch and watch movies 🙂

Old School.

Lunch time! Y’all. Watch this and tell me it’s not totally a preview of Britt as a teen. Yikes. The late night the night prior for fireworks def caused some moodiness!

The guys had a BLAST golfing. I was a bit nervous about it after how Father’s Day went down but their talk really helped and Zach said it was probably the most fun they have ever had golfing.

Had to steal me some snuggles before naps 🙂

We took Tess on vacation when she was only a few weeks old and I’ve always taken pics of her snuggling in the bed. I love capturing these moments!

So my friend Carrie wrote a great blog post about traveling and had the suggestion to buy a closet organizer to take on trips. I’ve always used gallon size bags to store my kids clothes when traveling but then have to deal with where to put them while on vacation. This closet organizer was GENIUS and worked out super well! I will for sure be bringing it along on future travels. You can get one here 🙂

Kye came home SO happy about the golf game…HE WON! They do some system that Zach looked up for junior golfers based on where he should line up or something (y’all know I don’t have any clue how golf works ha!) and Kye legit beat him!

Last year we visited Obi’s Filling Station. They had kids eat free on Wednesdays and we LOVED it! We all agreed we wanted to go back this year. We went again on Wednesday but when we walked in were told they no longer do a kids night 🙁 Boo. They did, however, honor the kids night deal for us! So super nice of them!!! The vibe of the place is really fun and the food is delicious!

My Mini-Me 😉

I did NOT get the donut burger this year 😉

We had dessert when we got home…I love how chill the beach trips always are. We just enjoyed our deck view and hung out for a bit rather than having to rush to bed!

Tess was SO thrilled to participate in the family game 🙂 Don’t Break the Ice is a FAVORITE around here!

Day 6 kicked off with a beach morning 🙂 I wasn’t really feeling much better but I also wasn’t going to let random issues keep me from having fun! It’s so neat to me how the beach will change from day to day. The first few days we didn’t have ANY seashells on the shore but on this morning we had TONS of them. I love hunting for seashells. I’m not big on jumping waves, but give me a beach full of shells and I’m golden. I enjoyed walking down the beach with the kids while hunting for cool shells. I also love that Kye is still very much into this. He loves boogie boarding and equally loves shell hunting. One well rounded kid 😉

Britt struggles the most regarding playtime and the other two kids. With three someone is usually left out and Kye and Tess don’t mind that. They enjoy alone time and playing solo. But Britt? Britt LOVES interacting with people. She never plays with toys. She just wants others around her constantly. Which can be tiring for the other kids who seek that solo time. She really did great this trip at handling the times when she was solo in her play. She started acting out characters from movies and playing all of the roles 😉

Tess insisted on bringing the toy Ariel with her to the beach. One guess what happened to Ariel?

Yup. She rejoined her mer-family under the sea 😉

I guess this is the heart of ti-fiti and she is helping restore it 😉

Britt may have done well playing solo…but she has yet to master the art of peeing in the ocean 😉

So many fun shells!

Kye said his favorite thing to do at the beach is play in the sand and make castles. Drip castles especially!

Beach Babes!

We had Kye nap all week. Which I know he’s 8 but I also know the beach wears you out. He wasn’t super happy about it but most days he slept for a solid hour. He is so sweet on beach trips and always wants me to nap and snuggle with him 🙂

Life changing blanket turned scarf haha

We have a yearly tradition of visiting a playground in St Augustine to ride the carousel. In the past this has been one “chunk” of a day. Like we go in the morning and that’s what we do that day. With napping kids and all we often don’t have a lot of LONG segments of time! Last year we went to the Fort on our way to the playground for a morning which was fun but this year we decided to lump the playground visit with Old Town. We never take a super long time at Old Town. Our kids aren’t ages where it’s fun to actually walk around and shop. So we figured we’d put two items on our “to do list” together and free up more time for the beach! It all worked out really well!

They added this new, AWESOME, swing! Both girls were able to swing together and I took a turn swinging with Tess and loved how I could look at her the whole time. Totally a genius idea and I’d love one for our neighborhood playground!

I took a video of it too

My boy 🙂

This year we skipped doing beach photos. We had them professional done last year and every year we have always either taken some family photos at the boat marina or at the beach. But things just didn’t work out to do them this year so instead I just tried to make sure I got some good pics of ME with each child sometime during the trip. When I go to make the kids birthday videos or do my birthday letter to them I always find that the majority of my pics with the kids are stinking selfies. Which I’m not anti selfie. As moms we gotta do what we gotta do to capture the moments with our kids! But I try to be mindful to ASK Zach to snap pics with me in them. I always have TONS of great shots of him and very few of me.

Carousel time!

We always get yearly photos on the cannon too! Tess is my most resistant kid to photos, even bribing doesn’t always work. So usually I just don’t force it. She didn’t wanna sit on the cannon, she doesn’t have to!

At least she participated in the group shot 😉

Tradition!!!

Our family keeps getting bigger but the pizza stays the same size ha! We opted to buy two baskets of breadsticks this year in order to make sure we had enough pizza 😉

We have also learned lessons over the years about ice cream. Kilwins AIN’T CHEAP. We told the kids they had to stick to the cheaper cones and just one scoop. They could choose any flavor other than dang Superman. That Superman is a MESS. This year Britt was extra excited to be able to actually get ice cream. Last year she was on treat restriction and could only have a cone ha!

Kye got some sort of cherry flavor? He taste tested a ton too and really liked that one!

Tess chose Key Lime Pie and LOVED IT

We went in a couple of shops to let the kids see if they wanted to purchase anything with their money. Of course Britt wanted to buy the first thing she saw. So we let Tess get something too!

While we were eating our ice cream we saw a sign in the window of a shop for fidget spinners. I told Kye that I wanted to tell him how proud it made me that he didn’t feed into that trend and that he’s yet to even ever ask for a fidget spinner. So we finished up our ice cream and decided to walk in the same shop. One guess what happened next.

He pulls out that wallet of his so quick to buy a fidget spinner hahaha.

We had such a fun time at Old Town! I know I keep saying this, but the kids are all at just such fun ages. I feel like this is the golden age stage of parenting and I just want to FREEZE TIME.
