Tess’s 6th Month Photos

Just like I was in denial that Tess was old enough to start eating solids…I also couldn’t believe it was already time for her 6 month photos! I feel like we just took her 3 months ones!

Lindsay has really become like a member of our family. We are all SO comfortable with her and it makes picture time so easy. The kids adore her and Zach doesn’t even complain 😉 She has such a great eye for locations and great ideas for making it FUN.

She found this little “secret garden” in a random spot in our neighborhood. I’d never seen this area before and it’s seriously so pretty!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more truer name than Captured by Colson b/c Lindsay really does capture the moments. Our personalities. Our lives! If you’re local than you totally need to book a session with her! And if you’re not local…she travels 🙂

Zach get teased a little by family for how tight we are with our money and it’s been said to him “y’all spend so much on pictures but yet won’t buy lunch on the golf course.”

It made my heart happy to hear Zach say that photos are important to him. That we will never, ever regret having pictures of our babies at different stages of their lives.

It’s money well spent and a priority for our family! I hope that maybe all my posting of family photos so often will inspire others to get photos done!

We had a morning session on a Saturday and I fed Tess a bottle while Zach took the big kids back to the secret spot 😉 Then we switched! When we had Britt’s 6 month pics everyone was just kinda in a funk.

Zach and I weren’t in the best moods, Britt was fussy, and Kye ended up having strep! Tess’s 6 month pics were a little off for us all too for various reasons. Britt wasn’t her happiest self, Kye had a bad spot on his lip that made him self conscious, etc etc.

We just weren’t on our “picture a game” but man! I was blown away when I got these back from Lindsay! I had VERY low expectations as it just didn’t feel like we got as good of shots as we did back in November. She proved me wrong!

We didn’t have the best luck getting a picture of all three kids together (by the time we did them Britt was done) but we have more pics in a couple months and can try for a sibling shot again then 😉 The benefit of having pictures done so often…there is always next time 😉

I was feeling very self conscious myself leading up to these photos. I had a hard time finding something to wear that I thought looked good on me. I was still really working on losing the baby weight and I just wasn’t all the way there yet. I still didn’t feel like “Emily” was back yet and felt like I still had that “I just gave birth” look.

When I saw the proofs I really was so happy with them. Not just for how many great ones there are of the kids, but also for how I look in them! It’s hard as a mom to get in front of the camera. Not just because you’re usually the one behind it but also because something about being a mom makes us feel less confident in our appearances.

I feel like I live in a land of spit up or snot or some other unknown icky substance. I feel like I always have someone clinging onto me and am always thinking about someone else other than myself. When we get pictures done I’m worrying with how the kids look in them and am not as focused on how I look.

It was such a nice surprise to look through photos and be able to say “I look good!” I emailed the link to Zach and it was the first thing he said as well which totally made my day 🙂

So thank you Lindsay…not just for our wonderful family photos (as always) but also for giving me a much needed self esteem boost! After giving birth to my third baby and turning 30…I needed it!

First up: the big kids!

We don’t do yearly pics for Kye anymore since he’s over 5 (we do every 3 months until 1 year old and then we do 6 months until 2 and then yearly until 5) but these were super close to his 6th birthday! Doesn’t he look so grown?

My Fav!

I’d say about 90% of our efforts during pictures are spent on Britt. Getting her happy. Keeping her happy. Trying anything we can to get that natural smile out of her 😉 Lindsay is getting GOOD at how to best work with Britt!

My Favorite!

Whew, I have a pretty dang sexy husband huh?

Photographer, Friend, and Child Peace Keeper 😉

For both Kye’s and Britt’s 6 month pics we used the chair from their bedrooms. I wanted to do the same thing for Tess 🙂 I love the gray chair in her room and think it worked out great!

My favorite 🙂

We made not have gotten one of all three kids smiling at the camera…but this makes my heart so happy right here. Britt looks SO proud and Kye is being so sweet. I’m so blessed to be their mama!

I think it’s pretty obvious that I’m obsessed with this baby, huh?

It wouldn’t be a family photo without a classic Britt “smile” 🙂

I love our crazy little life! I’m living my dream every single day 🙂

So thankful to Lindsay from Captured by Colson! You can check out tons more of her amazing work on Captured by Colson’s Facebook Page. She also has a flash sale going on that ends today! Great time to book a session at a discounted rate 🙂 As always, I’d love to know if you have any favorites? 🙂

You can look back at Britt’s 6 month pics here (she was putting us to work for pics back then too!) and at Kye’s here (it’s hard to even believe he’s the same child!) 🙂
