All about our March!

A big event this month was mine and Katie’s version of the Super Bowl…OSCAR NIGHT! We had a great time seeing all the movies this year and enjoyed watching the awards together. You can see all of my reviews of the Best Picture Nominees here!

We also had our family photos done with Lindsay (from Captured by Colson). Y’all she was SO pregnant yet still met up with us to do our session. That’s some hardcore dedication!!! You can see how they turned out here πŸ™‚

Get it girl!

Only a few days after our photos Baby Wake was born!!! I was SO happy I got to visit Lindsay at the hospital and meet him in person! He’s such a gift from the Lord and I couldn’t be more happy for her sweet family πŸ™‚

My sweet cousin, Susi, invited our family to her wedding this month! I hadn’t seen most of this side of my family in over 5 years so I was naturally VERY excited but also pretty dang nervous too. I wasn’t sure who all from the family would be there and the unknown can be nerve-racking. It ended up going SO wonderful though.

I’ve been SO thankful that time has allowed many doors that were once seemingly shut to be reopened. It was especially awesome to spend time with my cousins as I’ve missed them all so much and it was so fun reconnecting and sharing old stories and it was a true blessing a gift just how naturally everything flowed and how well it all went!

I left the wedding feeling so excited and so hopeful for the future with everyone and can’t wait to spend more time together soon!

It was the first time in over 5 years that I’ve seen my mom. And that went fine too! While it didn’t seem like that door is reopening for now, that’s okay. I’m at a place of peace about that and know I’ve done my part and what I can do from my end. That’s all I can do! It was wonderful to be able to give her a hug and remind her that I love her. Sometimes we have to just love people from afar and while there will always be pain in my heart regarding that, I also have come to accept that it may be just how things have to be. But I’m also hopeful that the future could be different. My brother wasn’t there and I wish I could have gotten to give him a big hug too!

Susi was THE most GORGEOUS bride and the wedding was so beautiful! I loved her dress and all the bridesmaids dresses. It was an intimate setting which made for a great chance to really mingle and enjoy quality time as family!

Meghan and I had SUCH a great time catching up!

Just like I always talk about my kids being so blessed to have “BFF Cousins” I have always been equally blessed in that department. Growing up Meghan is 11 months older than me and Jonathan is 11 months younger so we were all always super close! It’s so awesome that time and distance doesn’t change those connections whatsoever and we all picked up right where we left off πŸ™‚

When we went to leave we didn’t seek out Susi to say bye because, hello it’s her wedding day, but she came running out to give us a huge hug and omg that meant so much to me and was just SO sweet that the bride really went out of her way to make sure she let us know she was glad we came. I cannot express enough how much it means to me to be invited and included for her special day! It’s also CRAZY to me that she’s old enough to be getting married haha Susi is supposed to be a little kid tagging along on our cousin adventures πŸ˜‰

This girl right here is truly a GIFT to our entire family. She has been HUGE in loving on me and helping to mend so many bridges that she probably doesn’t even fully realize she’s helped to mend. I’m just so thankful she’s exactly who she is! I’m SO excited for Liz and Ben and their sweet baby girl coming soon!

This month Zach and Mr Rusty went on a golf trip together. It was part of Zach’s Christmas gift and part of a prize from some golf tournament Zach won! They had a great time away together!

Now that Spear is sleeping solid at night and going to bed earlier we are able to finally get back in the groove of date nights together! We had a dinner date out this month and I thought it’d be fun to dress like a “secretary” for our date because Zach is always talking about how much he loves me in my glasses haha!

And he wore a cardigan since he knows I have a thing for Mr Rodgers (just kidding…he just happened to wear a cardigan but he did rock it and looked gooooood) πŸ™‚

I also have a new fav spot to grab dinner! I like a good CHEAP meal and Panda Express is awesome for allowing me to get a kids meal. Around $5 and I get a full meal, a cookie and a drink? HUGE WIN!

I invited my MIL to go see “I Can Only Imagine” this month and I can’t recommend it enough! SUCH a powerful movie!!!

We also started the new season of Survivor and I was SO PUMPED to see that this cast member is from Satellite Beach which is my hometown!!!

This is what laundry day looks like when you have 4 kids haha

Katie and I went to Epcot and Z kept the kids for me until we got home and I walked in the door to a fully made bed! He knows the way to my heart πŸ˜‰

I made Kye’s FAVORITE meal this month! It’s a super easy, kid friendly option!

Zach has struggled with sleep (the only real side effect he’s had so far from MS) so he takes NyQuil on occasion to help him sleep. The lid got left on and it spilled all in our medicine storage spot. Soooo yall know how it is. I went on a cleaning spree and reorganized all of our bathroom storage areas and cleaned out SO MANY experience medicine items etc!

It’s always a HUGE mess to reorganize but it’s worth it!

I threw away all of these too…I mean who files their baby’s nails?!?!

In my cleaning I also found my old glasses. Whew I was BLIND before lasik!

Sexyyyy

It’s annoying that I need glasses after TWO ROUNDS of Lasik but at least they are thin and cute haha!

It’s also that weird time of year where it’s not quite warm enough to lay out but a tan is still kinda needed πŸ˜‰ I love having my home spray tan system!

Yall are gauchos BACK?!?! I saw these pop up a couple times on FB this month but I’ve yet to see anyone wear them in public…cmon guys let’s make this a THING!

This month our book club read A Wrinkle in Time and then saw the movie! The book is more of a classic geared towards kids but was still a great read and I truly enjoyed the movie! I will say though if you take your kids be warned that it goes VERY dark and is pretty scary. No way would I have Britt see it!

We had a blast at Steak and Shake after the movie! So glad to get together with these awesome ladies!

Daddy made his special homemade chocolate biscuits this month!

We also got this book (The Hiccupotamus) and it’s SUCH a fun read as a family but be warned…Tess and I BOTH legit got hiccups after reading it haha!

These two! I LOVE having same sex siblings. Seeing the girls and their bond is so special πŸ™‚

When Katie and I went to Disney I wanted to get the kids a little gift but didn’t want to spend a bunch of money…hello rock candy for the win πŸ™‚

We had our first family golf cart ride and visit to the neighborhood playground!

Big kids love riding in the back πŸ™‚

We only have a small part of the back deck that we let the kids do chalk on and they had so much fun making a running course out of it!

Here’s a video of the not-so-close race

This month the girls asked to take a shower like Kye does. Showering for girls is WAY harder than boys haha Any tips? Getting them to fully rinse their hair is a struggle!

Britt and Tess and I went on a coffee date and had SO MUCH FUN. Both girls are slightly Starbucks snobs when it comes to our coffee outings and I have to up my game πŸ˜‰

I posted on IG and got TONS of awesome drink suggestions so be sure to check out the post here if you are looking for new ones to try!

I get the girls the white mocha non-coffee and they love it!

Quality time is the best time!

Outfits from this Month:

A really neat thing happened this month! I was going through pics and realized I was wearing the SAME shirt the day Spear officially became ours that I happened to be wearing the day I got the call that Mama E chose us! How awesome is that?!?!? I LOVE things like that and it’s just so super special!

I obviously adore this shirt and you can get it here πŸ™‚

A good cross body is hard to find and I LOVE that this one has so much space!

I also adore this jacket!

Family Fun: March

This is everything we were up to in the month of March!

Grandpa and Grammie had to be down in Florida for some family matters and were coming through on their way home so they stopped for the night and a visit! I LOVE every chance we have to see them and it was so sweet of them to bring little gifts for the girls as well as Kye’s birthday present. They came through the day we left Disney so it worked out great! We were able to enjoy dinner together and the kids all got some quality time in as well.

Not only did they bring gifts for the kids but also for Zach and I which was above and beyond sweet. Especially when mine was a bag full of THE most PHENOMENAL scrubs! My legs always get really itchy, especially in the winter months and the scrubs that Audrey has made me have totally changed up my skin in the best ways possible. Zach is so annoyed by how obsessed I am with them but seriously. I told her she needs to sell them because not only will I BUY THEM ALL but I bet I have a bunch of friends who are looking for an amazing scrub too πŸ˜‰

Gotta love candids πŸ˜‰

So thankful for BOTH Dad and Audrey and everything they mean to ME but also to my whole little family πŸ™‚

The church where Zach grew up was celebrating their 30th anniversary homecoming. We couldn’t attend the church service b/c we had stuff going on at our church but we were able to attend the Homecoming dinner the night prior. Of course any chance I can I try to snap a few pics of our crew πŸ˜‰

This is what life with three looks like haha

When Tess is over it I just tell her to go ahead and get out of the picture. I’d rather have her not in it at all than it in and pitching a fit or something!

The DAB annoys Zach SO MUCH.

It was such a nice event that so many worked hard to put together! We enjoyed getting to visit with many people we haven’t seen in a long time!

This month the live action Beauty and The Beast was released and I was SO PUMPED! I love my themed leggings that Jennifer sent to me and I got a themed shirt to match from Happily Ever Tees.

I had to watch the original with Tess, of course!

Our theater had the premiere night on a Thursday. Katie, Robyn and I grabbed a quick dinner before heading over and we all three LOVED the movie. Like it’s AMAZING. Awesome casting, perfect balance of true-to-original and adding new details, fabulous songs, it was just fantastic!

We did our fair share of moving watching this month…not only did live action Beauty and the Beast come out but Moana came out on DVD. I snatched it up as soon as I can and then waited for the right time to surprise the kids with it πŸ˜‰ I was REALLY excited to do a themed movie night for them and have it be a surprise.

Something I’m working on is really truly thinking through what brings me JOY…and doing stuff like this really does just make me so happy. I love it! I searched on Pinterest for Hawaiian themed food ideas and enjoyed making each thing for our dinner!

Any excuse for Hawaiian rolls πŸ˜‰

Some hula girl stirrers I had (random) worked great for fruit kabobs

These turned out SO CUTE and were SO EASY! Blue Jello in clear cups, chocolate wafer cookies, graham cracker crumbs for the sand. Then I just drew the symbol and cut out the flags and stuck and toothpick through ’em!

I pulled out random tropical decorations I had and put it all together!

Hawaiian punch with umbrellas of course πŸ˜‰

I also got donut holes to serve as our “coconuts”

I couldn’t think up a Hawaiian veggie so donuts were close haha

The kids came down for dinner and did NOT realize why we had the themed meal. I took a video of the surprise πŸ™‚

I love how she always puts her shoes on the wrong feet and her sunglasses on backwards πŸ˜‰

Poor cardinal wanted to join in our movie night!

Yes. We had treats. Haha

We did Moana Friday night and then Saturday we went to see Beauty and The Beast as a family too. Told you we had some movie fun this month!

I know there was a LOT of controversy surrounding this movie. I read TONS of articles about it and debated a LOT about seeing it myself and then about taking the kids to see it. At the end of the day the scenes in question were very brief. I knew my children wouldn’t pick up on them and really thought the movie followed the original storyline so closely that I wasn’t concerned about my kids having any issues at all with the movie (including being fearful). Britt was really dramatic about it and looking back I think we should have watched the original as a family rather than just Tess and I!

Had to get some candy!

Zach agreed: he loved the movie too!

In February Zach was approached by our elders at our church regarding being nominated as a deacon. He attended a meeting about it and there was an announcement of all the men who were nominated and then time was given for church members to express any concerns. Not just about the nominated men, but also their wives (no pressure Emily haha!). They set aside time on a Sunday morning to officially announce all of the new deacons for our congregation. I’m very proud of Zach for fitting the qualifications for such a role in the church and for the Godly man he is. I found me a keeper for sure and he’s honored to have such a hands on role in our church family. I made sure to let all of the family know about the special portion of our worship service that morning and both of his parents (as well as Colt and Payton b/c Court and Brad were out of town) came to show their support. It meant a lot to us both to have them all there and we enjoyed getting to go out to lunch afterwards together! It was pretty adorable too to see Mr Rusty record the entire thing. I had to cut it down to even be able to email it myself from his phone but you can see it here πŸ˜‰ I was SUPER thankful that Sara (Don’s wife) was called up after me so she could help me not feel so short standing beside Zach haha!

Sweet Payton drew this for me during church…I laughed so hard at the 85 jersey πŸ˜‰

Sweet Sisters!

The day Kye had his well check we had a “skip school day.” It’s the first time I’ve ever intentionally allowed my kids to miss school without us traveling. And it was a BLAST! I tried to make it as fun as possible for them and think I succeeded in my mission, even with a drs appointment on the agenda πŸ˜‰

First stop: DONUTS!!!

Everyone got to pick ONE donut and Britt caught on to Kye’s genius idea to always pick a chocolate cream filled b/c they are MASSIVE.

This random Star Wars guy found it’s way in my bag and was the guest of honor for our treat.

The look you make when you’re skipping school and your teachers husband walks in the donut shop haha! We told him we wouldn’t tell his wife he was getting donuts if he didn’t tell her he saw us πŸ˜‰

Had to have a picnic lunch after the dr!

The girls both had their Muffins with Mom this month (more on that in their individual posts) and before school we took some pics to show how Britt and I were matching but it quickly turned into everyone getting a turn at using Mommy’s camera haha

CFA kids night dinner for the WIN!

Tess is always iffy about the cow. She used to hate him but now she kinda loves him but also gets shy and nervous when he comes close. It was a more chill kids night (rare!) so he was pretty bored and ended up giving our table a TON of attention!

First date. With a cow. Ha!

We also love us some Zaxby’s on Wednesdays!

(Kids nights are our jam as needed)

Zach has been really missing quality time with his parents. Which is so precious. He keeps talking about how he misses eating over at their house. We hate to ever put his mom out or cause her added work but there is just something special about being at his childhood home eating his mama’s cooking. They had us over and it was a great time and so cute to see Britt helping G-mama in the kitchen!

G-Mama portions for dessert…

Tess was sick this month so we had ANOTHER family movie night! We recorded the made for tv Rapunzel movie and watched that together. The new show on Disney is also our first ever family tv show. We record it each week and try to watch it on the weekends at some point together. The original cast is part of the show and so far it’s super cute!

YEARS ago I read The Shack and LOVED it. I don’t remember a ton about the book only that it really helped in my spiritual growth at the time. When the movie came out there was a lot of controversy but y’all it’s a MOVIE (well book first but still). It’s not saying that it’s TRUE or that it’s from God’s Word. Take it for what it is and enjoy it and take home the many golden nuggets of truth sprinkled within it.

I’ve been part of a ladies bible study on Wednesday nights for many years now and much of our class is made up of ladies a few generations wiser than I am πŸ˜‰ Our group went together to see the movie and it was fun! We filled three rows of seats in the theater!

I am personally struggling on my walk in the area of forgiveness lately. There have been people in my circle over the years who have known God’s Word yet who have chosen to go down paths that are directly against what God wants for us and our lives. Not only is it painful to see how these choices affect them, but also it’s crazy how poor decisions people make can hurt SO MANY.  I haven’t really ever felt like I struggle with forgiveness but I realize it’s easy to forgive people who don’t know the Lord. Who don’t know His teachings. Who don’t know that their choices are sinful. I’m struggling with anger and the ability to fully forgive those who KNOW right but CHOOSE wrong. This was perfect timing for me to see this movie.

I love that it pointed out these things about forgiveness specifically:

1. That is does NOT mean reconciliation. You can forgive but not have a relationship with that person.

2. That forgiveness isn’t snapping your fingers. It’s a journey. It’s a path. It’s not “I forgive you!” and then BAM! It’s all washed away.

3. It takes reminding. It’s okay to get angry again. It’s okay to have those hurt emotions. You may have to remind yourself over and over again that you forgive them. It may take a LONG time to FULLY forgive but that’s okay too!

I left feeling much more at peace. Of course I’m not fully through those emotions still but I’m a work in progress on it πŸ˜‰

After a few of the ladies invited me to DQ and we had THE best time! I love that friendships can span generations, we can all learn so much from each other and still have so much in common. I’m so blessed by all of these amazing women and thankful to have them in my life!

Speaking of reaching out hahahaha I about died when Zach came home on St Patrick’s Day and told me to look up the business he’d been to that day for work. Oh what you’ll do as an insurance salesman bahaha

Our month was crazy due to one word: SWIM. On days that Britt had swim I had to pack the girls’ lunches so they could eat while we waited!

One of my adoption goals for the month was to start freezing some meals. My routine is to cook a meal and as I cook it to just dump the ingredients into a freezer bag to freeze a second meal to eat later πŸ™‚ This is a family favorite!

Zach and I hosted a small group from our larger Spiritual Enrichment Group at church and we did a brunch. I made two new recipes…crock pot cinnamon roll casserole and a crock pot breakfast casserole. Both turned out great!

Chicken pockets are an easy family meal (often something I make when Zach is out of town). Cook chicken and chop it up then put it in two crescent rolls (shaped into a square) and top with cheese. Cook at 350 for about 10 min!

Zach has been trying to up his healthy eating game since being officially diagnosed with MS and one thing he’s gotten into is making his own bread.

Another yummy favorite! If you try this one I’d recommend using less pasta and add extra cottage cheese. This was my second time making it and it turned out SO GOOD because it wasn’t dry!

I’m trying to work in more veggies and this was an okay dish…I liked it a lot but it had a little too much broccoli I think!

I still have TONS of books from my childhood! Books really are THE best gifts and always try to write a little note in them too, so special that I have this πŸ™‚

Omg y’all. Did y’all know about this? NO MORE LOWE’S BUILD AND GROW. I am so so sad. We’ve been going to these for YEARS. It’s so disappointing that they have ended them! It’s something I know Zach and Kye were looking forward to doing with Tab one day too!

Warmer days meant our walks started back up!

I love that he’s so proud of his camera and isn’t embarrassed at all to take pics πŸ˜‰

Poor outfit choice Tess if you wanted to get out of the stroller and walk!

We had SUCH a warm winter that I was pretty pumped that we’d get to be swimming in our pool probably in March! But then a random super cold front hit and it was FREEZING for a few days and totally ruined that plan!

I’m usually pretty hardcore about ONE big monthly grocery trip but here lately life has just been too crazy for it and it’s easier to run in and grab some stuff off our list in little chunks of time. And it’s made easier during those times when I have 2 kids rather than all three πŸ˜‰

It was a rough emotional month with the adoption (you can read about it here!) and some emotional eating DEF HAPPENED. haha!

Mike and Sully!!!

Zach and I have been so busy. It’s a busy season and it can be hard to keep the focus on EACH OTHER. But I love that we both keep trying to make sure the other knows how much we love them and value our relationship πŸ™‚

I found sweet notes all over the house in the most random places πŸ™‚

We had this date night planned to get Panda Express and watch Con-Air (HOW has Zach NEVER seen it?) But then I couldn’t find Con-Air on Netflix or Amazon or HBO or whatever other options would be free…the cheapest I could find was $3.99 for it. I mean it’s a classic movie but not $3.99 worthy haha

I’m not big on getting my car cleaned. I get it done once a year haha and it’s after our annual beach trip b/c hello sand. But this month Tess dropped a sippy cup FULL OF MILK in the car. Milk was EVERYWHERE. I was pretty luck not to be able to smell πŸ˜‰ I had it cleaned and FINALLY put my new decal on that Casey got me for Christmas and that aNn Monograms designed! I LOVE IT!

Mrs Charlotte, Courtney, Casey and I went to get pedicures and I about died when I googled the place to make an appointment and saw a picture OF MYSELF hahaha

Big shocker that we all felt pretty cruddy all month. This was after only a couple hours of my van sitting in a parking lot. INSANE.

We’ve been working to fix some damage I had to my hair and this was the first time I’ve left feeling SO GOOD about it! I LOVE this COLOR!!! Whoop whoop!

Part of my mission to focus more on what brings me JOY has been finding ways to be happy throughout the day for ME. Not just about my kids or husband but MYSELF. Gah y’all I know laying out isn’t good for our skin. But that sunshine just makes me feel SO AMAZING. I’m lathering on the sunscreen and covering up with a hat and just enjoying it! We all need more Vit D right?

Another thing I’ve been doing is reading more. Robyn really inspired me with this as she is reading 100 books this year. I def don’t have that goal but I’ve started carrying a book with me everywhere and when I have any downtime I READ rather than scroll my phone. I’ve been LOVING it!

I read The Hypnotist’s Love Story

And The Luckiest Girl Alive

(y’all this is a MUST READ. It was SO GOOD)

Whew. It was a FULL month, as you can tell, but our favorite moments are always those spent together. Love my sweet family SO MUCH!

Family Fun: March

This is a recap of our entire month of March! There is a LOT to cover so I just am going through it chronologically πŸ˜‰

I find it HILARIOUS that Britt is now so annoyed with Tess. Karma honey πŸ˜‰

Zach’s big goal has been to get our outdoor kitchen built which has meant a lot of downtime on the weekends. Not my fav. We got into a rhythm for a little while where I’d take the big kids out and about and Zach would keep Tess at home while he worked on kitchen stuff. It’s awesome that the big kids are SO EASY now and it makes outings FUN. I see the advantage of people having kids close in age b/c having a little one makes even quick errands difficult!

Kye brought along his wallet and wanted to buy some tic-tacs with his money!

I am a person who NEEDS friendships. I have a theory that people with less close family tend to seek out deeper friendships more than those who have tight family bonds. I fit into that gotta have friends category. I love group stuff and I love one-on-one time too. Lindsay and I first started getting to know each other when we first started working with her for our family photos (Captured by Colson). Over the years we’ve gotten to know each other better and she’s really a friend I have wanted to invest more time with for a long time now. I’m SO thankful we’ve both felt the same way and I LOVE our talks. I feel like we just “click” and she’s truly a blessing to me!

An outdoor kitchen is no joke y’all. Zach made all the forms himself to create the concrete countertops!

Found a lovely family of spider eggs when I tipped over Kye’s Jeep to clean out leaves. YIKES.

I have a natural darker pigment of skin. People growing up always envied how easily I tan and how long my color lasts. Don’t envy it guys. Because my skin darkens so easily as I’ve gotten older I’ve had some issues starting with discoloration. Blah. I read on Chronicles of a Babywise Mom that Valerie has had AWESOME results using Hair, Skin, and Nails so I started adding them to my daily routine in hopes that they will make a difference!

I got Zach a Yeti Tumbler for Christmas and he got me one for Valentine’s Day. We LOVE them. I know they aren’t cheap but we use them DAILY so it’s been worthwhile for us to have (especially living in the south Georgia HEAT). I worked with aNn Monograms to come up with some decals to personalize our favorite cups! She does some ammmmazing stuff!

My weakness is some McD iced coffees…YUM.

I mentioned in a recent post that Britt has become really into the American Girl catalogs that have randomly been arriving in our mailbox (how do they know that I have a girl close to the age of their products? Kinda creepy riiiiiight?). As a girl I had a Samantha doll and I SWORE I still had her somewhere. Zach and I both remember seeing a box of American Girl stuff at some point somewhere. We’ve moved three times and neither of us could remember seeing it in our current home. I’ve been so thankful that my parents both insisted that I take all my childhood toys and such from their storages when I got married, but I was nervous that my mom may have still had my American Girl dolls which meant I probably wouldn’t be getting that box anytime soon.

I took a night and ventured up into our attic. Which…not gonna lie…freaked me out. I HATE heights and as a kid my dad fell through our attic (and into the ceiling directly above my bed where I was sleeping haha) so I don’t love attics. But it was SO worth it.

I found THE BOX!!! I about cried! Especially when I opened it up and didn’t just see Samantha…but saw a bonus doll too that I don’t even remember owning! That means EACH of my girls can have a doll from Mommy!!!

For being 20 or so years old and being in a hot attic for years and years they look pretty good huh?

(I sent them both into the American Girl Doll Hospital…more on that in a future post)

I now have a new goal to completely go through all my junk in the attic. Some stuff is straight trash but there are also so many treasures! What good are all my childhood toys and such doing if they are in storage forever? Stuff is only meaningful to anyone if you enjoy it and I want my kids to get to enjoy things I enjoyed at their ages!

Creepiest find so far? ALL OF MY BABY TEETH. No joke. Kye has his first loose tooth so I was pretty pumped to freak him out the next morning. He actually ended up LOVING it and saying he wanted something similar. And…not surpassingly…Britt dropped the box of my teeth and they scattered everywhere and are now all mixed up. I might have also accidentally chewed on one thinking it was a piece of popcorn one day. 😡

I made some pretty sweet dough for me teeth!

Another special find was my box that I kept beside my bed at night. I’ve always had a brain that I can’t shut off and I had a good bit of anxiety. I remember sleeping with little trinkets to help comfort and calm me. I carried that little cross in my pocket card around with me and would sleep with it on my heart. It’s so worn and was such a special find.  (and unicorn box for the WIN)

Speaking of attic spaces…we have a room off of Zach’s office area upstairs that the builder accidentally had partially finished. It has flooring to support a real room and we will eventually finish it like Zach did the playroom. For now though it holds our kids clothing that they aren’t currently wearing (either stuff that’s too small or stuff that I buy on super sale that’s too big) and it holds all my deals on gifts πŸ˜‰ Now that we have three kids keeping up with the clothing storage is ridiculous. Someone is always growing out of a size and it’s SO EASY for me to get behind in putting things in the correct containers. And, yes, I hoard all of my childrens’ clothing. I plan to sell it all at kids sales once we are done having babies…and I plan to make a million dollars in profit πŸ˜‰

We enjoyed the beautiful weather that March brings and had the Megow crew over to play too! (Shirts were apparently optional haha)

Both these boys are constantly surrounded by sisters…they were PRECIOUS playing some backyard football together!

We did tacos for dinner to keep it simple and kid friendly. Wrong. I announced to everyone that I wanted them to scream super loudly how much they hate tacos and then they weren’t allowed to say it again. Apparently no one under the age of 8 enjoys tacos haha

Zach could so rock 7 kids πŸ˜‰

Tess NEVER goes to people. Even like Zach’s mom she will cry about being handed to…yet she instantly loved Seth!!!

I gave the boys some guy time and went to dinner with Robyn! We don’t often do stuff “just us” so it was great!

TMI alert but I mean I had Tess how long ago?!? Like we are nearing the 2 year marker here people. WHEN oh WHEN will my body go back to normal?!?! My cycle has been SO CRAZY since giving birth to her. My skin breaks out like something fierce mid-way through, I have some killer PMS (sorry honey), cramps so painful I require a heating pad, and will LEGIT be unable to function AT ALL the first day or so when my auntie finally pays the visit. Sometimes she’s super early and then sometimes she’s mega late. So. Annoying.

Casey and I took the girls and Carter to the YMCA for Friday Frolic fun! It was so cute because Britt instantly made a friend then I never saw her the rest of the time. I know for a fact that Britt is my social butterfly and I’ll probably have to keep a close eye on what friends she chooses in the future. Tess is the exact opposite and doesn’t like to go to ANYONE. She was ADORABLE on this particular day. She ventured out a bit more and kept finding older kids she liked. She especially enjoyed following around this little group of boys who were probably 3ish. She was annoying them and they kept saying “go away baby” but she kept on after them and when we left I asked what her favorite part of the morning was and she said “BOYS” Whew we are in trouble with her for an entirely different reason than Britt’s πŸ˜‰

We have Wild Adventures passes and it’s one of those places that you know you SHOULD go and once you DO go you will have fun but it’s such a pain TO actually go. We had a day where we went back and forth debating going out there and we ended up being so glad we did! The Bacon crew met us there and we all had a blast!

Britt living it up…Tess not so sure

Girl time on the carousel!

While the boys went to ride coasters and go carts πŸ™‚

The struggle is so real with little ones at a theme park like that as there just isn’t much for them to do!

We rode the carousel twice but that wasn’t enough for Tess. She literally tried to climb the fence to get to the horses!

Of all our kids this girl is the one who’s always been the biggest water consumer!

Watching Daddy and Kye on the coaster!

The ONE ride at Wild Adventures that is fun for the entire family is the safari. We stood in line FOREVER and that junk never came. So annoying. The babies did super well (great practice for Disney) and even though it was frustrating to wait and wait and not actually end up riding it, the timing did work out well as we would have never thought to check out a tiger show if we hadn’t been walking right by as it was starting!

It was legit super awesome and something we all enjoyed!

Our kids all LOVE the playground and it’s the perfect way to end a fun day! We even picked up pizza on the way home and made a fun night of it all πŸ™‚

I’ve posted before about my “goal jeans.” I bought them before giving birth to Tess and have worked so hard to be able to wear them. I realized they are just crappy jeans. They must be mis-sized or something because I’m in a 4 (and have been for awhile now) yet they are a size 6 and just haven’t fit right. This month I tried them on just on a whim and they fit the best they have yet! I actually wore them in public! Whoop Whoop!

I’ve always envied Mrs. Charlotte and how she will buy new clothes before Aflac trips so this month I was SO PUMPED about our Italy California trip. It was going to be my FIRST big trip since our honeymoon where I wasn’t either nursing or pregnant! PLUS I’ve worked hard to get down to a size where I’m getting my confidence back so it made it even more fun to load up on new cute clothes for our adventures!

Admit it…you don’t fully take off your pants when trying on clothes either…right?

Like most moms I wear jeans majority of the time. I got to the point this month where I was OVER IT. I had like 34 pairs of jeans and it was a PAIN to go through them all over and over again. Majority of them didn’t fit me well. I’d wear them and they’d be falling down over and over all day or they’d be too long or hug the wrong places. Etc etc etc. I’ve read a good bit about “capsule closets” and I decided to start with my jeans. I tried on every single pair I own and if I didn’t LOVE the way they fit, then they went into a get rid of pile. Y’all. I got rid of 26 pairs of jeans (any takers?). 26! (this included the annoying “goal jeans”) I then invested in NICE jeans that fit FLAWLESSLY. I ordered 21 pairs of jeans from Nordstrom. They have free returns so I got 9 pairs of jeans in multiple sizes. I tried them all on and ended up keeping three of them. One every day color in a skinny ankle fit, another in a dark wash skinny, and a third “boyfriend” distressed relaxed style. My life is SO much simpler AND I have jeans that FIT. I did also keep 2 pairs of larger size jeans b/c we all need fat day jeans πŸ˜‰

Crunk about jeans that are the PERFECT length!

Before and After (and I’m not done with the colored pants either)

Getting rid of all those jeans was SO FREEING that I’ve become pretty obsessed with it. I think it helps boost my confidence too to try on so many ill-fitting items b/c they are too big. I’ve kept all the bigger things but put them in the attic to wear postpartum next time!

Shorts were next on my list!

Also this month we finally got our new door hanger hung! I got it from Groopdealz (so random) and it was unpainted. Zach got some blue spray paint and I LOVE how it turned out! We like to always make sure we have some blue represented on our porch to remind our neighbors that we haven’t stopped the “blue door dream” πŸ˜‰

Nothing makes a mama’s heart happier than seeing her babies playing sweetly together!

Caught me taking pics and stuck out that tongue haha!

Another attic find of mine was an old Barbie luggage case FILLED with My Little Ponies!!! I have to brag on myself as a kid…I took dang good care of my toys! They were all in great condition and the girls LOVE playing with them πŸ™‚

Kye may even enjoy them too πŸ˜‰

Stevie had her birthday party and this time we didn’t get lost (probably b/c it was at Seth’s house). It was the same weekend as Easter so Zach stayed home with Tess who was sick and I took the big kids. Which I mean looking back I probably shouldn’t have done b/c they def had a bit of it too by the end of the weekend. Oops!

All the other kids were coloring while Kye was concerned with eating πŸ˜‰

Husband brag break: isn’t he the sweetest daddy?

He’s a pretty dang sweet husband too! Surprised me with BEAUTIFUL flowers (which he thought were tulips haha)

AND surprised me by making the bed (which I LOVE) and writing me a sweet love note letting me know I could get the house PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED. Y’all don’t even know how long I’ve been hinting/straight up begging to have our house cleaned. I do the best I can but it’s HARD with three kids. I have a friend with 4 kids who lives in a smaller home and she always talks about how she never wants a bigger house because bigger house means more to clean. I feel ya sister. Our house isn’t HUGE but it’s big enough where I can barely manage to keep it looking decent..let alone really cleaning. Ya know like the blinds? Or fans? Or other places that don’t have to be clean for the house to pass off as clean? THAT is why I wanted someone to professionally clean it! And I’m so glad he broke down and let me!!! Super thoughtful gift (and once they came he agreed it may need to be a yearly or semi-annually thing)!

I love how they love each other!

Our current favorite jam is Kids Bop version of “Party in the USA.” Tess was ALL ABOUT IT putting her hands up in the air! SO funny and it cracks me up that Kye looks so annoyed haha

Over Spring Break I let the big kids have a “sibling sleepover” night. Zach was out of town on business and I figured, why not? I really encourage our kids to be FRIENDS. I think the bond of siblings is SO important (I miss you Brandon) and I want my kids to have that bond and to feel loyal to each other. Part of that is spending time together without mom and dad monitoring their every move. Kye and Britt have had a couple tries at the sibling sleepover. One time we were SO crazy and let them sleep in a tent in the playroom. It was a nightmareSince then though they have slept in the same room on several vacations and have done sibling sleepovers in Kye’s room where they both had their own bed (bunk beds rule). This time Britt is so much older that I thought she could handle sleeping in closer quarters. They wanted to spend the night in the playroom with ALL of their stuffed animals so we went for it. They were inspired with the CFA Sleepover and wanted to copy that!

They kicked off the night with a snack…chocolate bunnies G-Mama had given them. They were cracking me up bc they didn’t expect the bunnies to be hollow!

They wanted to play Pie Face with their friends too so I let them use a sponge to play

The sweetest πŸ™‚

Selfies already πŸ˜‰

I mean how could this plan not go well?!?!

I really had high hopes for them to make it through the night. I told them that once I said “no more talking” that they HAD to go to sleep. I had the monitor where I could hear them and see them. Even though they are young I did rehash the whole “keep privates private” talk just in case. They were really cute just being silly and playing with their stuffed animals and talking about all the things they were doing at the sleep over (it was more about the animals having a sleepover than them…it’s like they were playing the roll of the CFA workers haha). But then I told them to go to sleep and they didn’t. And they kept not going to sleep. So I had to send them to their rooms. And Kye ended up getting disciplined for how he handled it. It was a hot mess of a late night. Mama had regrets about that fo sho!

I needed some “chill time” the next day and went with my old trusted trick: bubble baths. We rarely do bubble baths so they are always a GREAT way to keep the kids happy and contained so I can do something. In this instance I was packing for our trip (and within sight of our bathtub). Now that we have three kids and Kye is too old to be bathing with the girls he got to have his own bath! He loves alone time so it was a win πŸ™‚ Tess…not so much. She insisted on bringing chapstick in with her and kept losing it in the water. So I ended up not getting a whole lot done after all πŸ™‚

The month ended on a disappointing note about not getting to go to Italy…BUT it’s hard to be too sad about missing Italy when this comes in your mailbox!
