Easter 2019

Easter 2019.

Many years we do a TON at Easter time. So. Many. Egg. Hunts.

This year wasn’t a year where we ended up doing a whole lot of Easter themed things. We went to Disney the same weekend as many Easter events so we missed out on them (which I’m sure Zach was happy about ha!).

I LOVED Easter being later this year. LOVED!

It was GORGEOUS weather. Usually, with Easter it’s this huge guessing game. Will it be cold? Will it be sweltering hot? No one knows!

It was SO nice having it be in late April and I’m so bummed that it’ll be early April again last year. LAME.

Tess had her egg hunt at school and Spear and I were able to attend with her. I was so glad that they didn’t do any sort of learning activity with the egg hunt…it was JUST an egg hunt!

So much easier than trying to find a dang sight word or certain letter or number!

G-Mama had just gotten back in town from Bermuda and was able to come to see Tessie and Carter too!

We always do some simply dying with the Easter eggs and this year was no different.

Nothing fancy for us…just get ’em dyed and DONE!

We always write with crayon on them but next year are going to try dying them first and then coloring on them!

I tried to keep it SUPER simple with the Easter treats I made this year. Y’all both of these were SO SIMPLE.

The “nests” are just brownies baked in a muffin tin with egg chocolates on top.

And the cake is just a boxed bunt cake, frosted with peeps and m&ms in the center and on top! EASY!

Katie has been hosting an Easter event the last couple of years and we love having a chance to go out to her house and visit with her family.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day when we went out there and the kids all had so much fun!

Zach got the boys hair cut that morning and they both looked so handsome and Spear was stealing the show 🙂

I love when my kids wear clothes that their siblings wore! This outfit was a favorite of mine when Kye was little 🙂

Spear was all about the eggs and had so much fun. It was so nice just to let him do his thing and be able to see him enjoying it all!

I know it’s picture overload but SORRY NOT SORRY 😉

And I promise, the other kids were there too and also had so much fun!

I love how social our kids are. They all immediately made friends with other kids that were there and it was so great to have some BOYS for Kye to play with too!

Katie hosts an egg hunt and they color eggs and even have a piñata!

Britt balled out. She found THE most eggs AND she is the one who busted the piñata!

Tess loved coloring the eggs and took it very seriously. She was just so proud to be allowed to be hands on with the activity.

Katie said she was narrating everything she did the whole time, so cute!

On top of enjoying time with Katie and her family, Rachel also came with Emma and we loved all getting to have the kids together and to somewhat catch up between chasing babies 😉

I love our Easter mornings. We don’t do Christmas morning at our house so Easter morning is always so fun just letting the kids be in pjs with their messy morning hair and watching them hunt eggs and enjoy their baskets!

This year was a big milestone Easter as Kye has gotten older and is a big help on things (you can read more about this transition here)

The Easter Bunny always hides an egg in their shoes (we put out our Easter shoes the night prior) and this year Daddy made special Easter muffins for breakfast too!

We have a tradition of lining the kids up in the hallway and letting them run out to hunt the eggs.

Here’s a video 🙂

The Easter bunny only hides the eggs in the living room and the kids have fun doing their hunt!

When I get up I take their baskets and put them in the laundry room so they can do the egg hunt without being distracted by their baskets.

After they finish up the egg hunt they head back down the hallway so I can bring back out the baskets and they can run out again to see what the Easter Bunny brought them!

The Easter Bunny kept things pretty simple this year and tried to stick to things that are practical.

Kids don’t take much to be excited. They don’t need fancy things! Clearance finds, treats, and beach towels are exciting 🙂

Our church had the kids learn songs for Easter morning and it was so cute seeing them all. I was glad my kids were all in a line to make it easy for me to watch 😉

I was proud of Tess for singing out…and of course I could hear Kye loud and clear ha!

We also traded off with another family of 6 at church to get a family pic! Other moms “get it” better than a random person from church would!

So many videos from their performances:

We ran home after church to get changed and pick up our Easter treats to take over to Mema’s for lunch!

I really struggled putting together our Easter outfits this year. SIX PEOPLE is a LOT to coordinate and it’s SO tricky with Kye and Spear being such a large age gap.

It’s easy to find matchy stuff for the girls but the boys is HARD!

We had the egg hunt prior to lunch this year which went really well! We just let Spear be late for naptime and headed home for him to have a late afternoon nap.

The kids always have such fun with their cousins and I was soaking up the pretty weather wishing Easter was at the end of April every year 😉

On the drive home Spear was CASHED and welcomed his bed for a nice nap!

The big three really, really wanted to test out the water in the pool so I let them and enjoyed the peaceful book reading time…

At least for that full five minutes that they could handle the freezing water!

Apparently even a late April Easter is still too cold to swim 😉

There you have it! Our simple, fun Easter! Britt has proclaimed it her favorite holiday 😉 At least until the next one comes up!
