Family Photos March 2018

Monday, April 30, 2018

Hope you guys LOVE seeing photos of our family because when we have a new baby we get professional images done pretty often. It's C-RAZY to me that this is our last season of having a baby and having such frequent photos! Back in March we got together with Captured by Colso n for Spear's 3 month photos. These were a combo of Spear's 3 month and Kye's 9th year :) But really every photo session I aim for solo pics of each kid anyway so it doesn't really  matter who the "focus" was supposed to be on. Everyone gets a moment in the spotlight! Lindsay had her baby less than a week after taking these pics for us. Girl was PREGNANT! And I appreciate her soooo much for taking the time to do our session. I know at the end of pregnancy you're just so over it  but she was in great spirits and still doing her thing (how she got that squat going with that baby belly I'll never know ha!).

Kye's 9th Birthday Letter {From Daddy}

Friday, April 27, 2018

Kye, You are officially nine years old. You are only a few years away from being a pre-teen. I am not sure if I am completely ready for that.  Having Spear around has brought back so many memories of you as a baby.  Your first steps. You saying golf over and over. Me singing random songs to you.(I still do that)

How Babywise Allows Me to Have a Life Outside of Motherhood

Thursday, April 26, 2018

So often in today's culture it seems like moms are viewed as martyrs. They sacrifice their own joy, their personal goals, their sleep, their relationships, their wardrobe, their time, and so on and so on for their kids. Many times it's almost worn as a badge of honor. Something to be bragged about. I have personally received lots of negative backlash for traveling with my husband {gasp!} without our children . I get comment after comment about how do I possibly find the time  to get myself ready each day. I get told I'm so lucky  {insert cringe here} that my kids sleep so I'm able to be well-rested. All fellow Babywise Mama's know: it's not luck.

Kye's 9th Birthday Letter {From Mommy}

Wednesday, April 25, 2018

My Sweet Kye, Woah. I cannot believe YOU ARE NINE. Nine is the first age I have truly significant memories from my own childhood and it's so mind-blowing to me that my child  is now that age. When I was nine my world was rocked by my parents divorcing. I remember how I felt. I remember processing those emotions and having to work through a new family dynamic. It forever shaped my future and left a long lasting mark on my memories of my childhood.

Kye's 9th Birthday

Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Kye's birthday fell on a Sunday this year which is a little tricky with church and everything! When we started talking about his party and making it a smaller guest list he asked if Colt could spend the night after. I'm not a HUGE fan of spend the night parties or sleep overs. And it's tricky because I feel TOTALLY fine about Kye and Colt spending the night together but wouldn't feel as comfortable with Britt and Payton. Colt and Kye are only a little over a year apart but Payton is Kye's age and that's a pretty big jump between her and Britt. So it's tricky for me when it comes to cousin sleep overs! After the week he'd had with the flu though and since he really hasn't gotten a lot of Colt time lately we invited Colt to stay after the party and they had a BLAST playing video games and chewing gum and laughing together :) Traditions are important to our family and birthdays have MANY of them!  First we always wake up the birthday chi

Kye's 9th Birthday Party

Want all the details on the Star Wars party decor and food? Be sure to visit this post! Kye was SO beyond excited for his birthday party! The week leading up to the event he had the FLU and it broke my heart that he still wasn't 100% better for his party. His tummy took awhile  to feel normal again so all the party food he'd been so excited to eat, he didn't end up partaking in. BUT he had a TON of FUN and so many friends came to really make it a special day for him. When it came to invitations we wanted to keep this party small. We had a lot of fun things planned and when you get too many kids involved it can really take away from what you're able to do during the party. Kye handpicked the guest list and it was so cute who he wanted to invite (one of the first people he mentioned was Eli who is only 5 but who Kye adores ). I was so thankful so many people were able to come and that all of Kye's buddies were there!

Star Wars Party Decor

Friday, April 20, 2018

For Kye's birthday this year we decided to have a party! The past few years he has celebrated at Disney World and now that we own a home down there we'll most likely be doing all future birthdays at Disney so this very might as well be Kye's last  birthday party (insert tears here). I actually talked to him a good bit about doing a Disney birthday again but he said "I just want a party from you Mama." He LOVES my parties and that just makes my heart SO happy. It makes all the work, time, and effort well worth it to see my children so happy and to know it's something they truly love and enjoy so much! Of course he got to choose the party theme and chose... shocker ...Star Wars!

Spear is 3 Months Old!

Spear turned 3 months old on March 1st! I use What to Expect the First Year to see where he's at in his milestones and development and I purchased his monthly stickers here :) I also love the little bibs I used for his pics this month... I got those here :)   At three months old Spear is doing the only item a baby his age should be able to do  and that's lifting his head up 45 degrees when on his stomach. He is also doing everything a 3 month old will probably be able to do  including: laughing out loud on stomach, lifting head 90 degrees squeal in delight bring both hands together smile spontaneously follow an object being held 6 inches above his face and being moved 180 degrees (watching the whole way) He can also do all the things a baby his age may possibly be able to do including: hold head steady when upright on stomach, raise chest, supported by arms roll over (one way) grasp a rattle held to backs or tips of fingers pay attention to a

Big Kid Summary: February 2018

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

We had such a busy February that the kids didn't actually do a whole lot individually and I can't justify doing individual summary posts this month (plus I have this hardcore goal of catching up so why not combine 'em into one!) Kye came home this month with a fortune teller! It brought back SUCH great memories of childhood! I used to love making these, didn't you? The big thing for poor Kye this month was that he came down with THE FLU. We tried so hard to avoid it but it happened. Bless him. It was the most pitiful sickness I've ever dealt with thus far as a mother. It was MISERABLE for him. He missed almost an entire week of school and it took him a SOLID MONTH to fully recover.  AND it was THE WEEK leading up to his birthday. It was a tad mega stressful.  AND he "only" had Type A AND we all had flu shots!!! I was EXTREMELY cautious about Spear especially but really I didn't want ANY of us to have it! Poor Kye had to be
