Pumpkin Patch Family Night

Monday, October 31, 2011

Every October we go on an Aflac trip (or sometimes even two!) so getting a pumpkin and carving it is always tricky. Last year we got our pumpkin and carved it early...which was a BIG mistake! That poor pumpkin was molded and covered in flies before Halloween even had a chance to arrive. This time around we decided to get our pumpkin early, but wait to carve it until the very last minute. We always go to the pumpkin patch on Patterson Road at Park Avenue Methodist. It's not the prettiest surroundings (busy road = not very harvesty feel for pics) but they have a great selection and it's on our way to so many things that we can go from there to church or out to eat or whatever! This is a picture from Kye's first year at the pumpkin patch (I do not miss that bald head poor kid haha) and here's the blog entry about it :)  This is my favorite picture from last year's trip and also here is the blog entry about it! This year started out like last year, Kye r

34 Weeks Pregnant!

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Only two weeks left until I'm full term!!! Have you put in your guesses for the Blitzen Baby Pool yet??? Better get on it! Go here to enter and here to learn more about the prizes I'm giving away ;)   Baby Growth: This week Blitzen now weights about 4 3/4 lbs (we know my baby is bigger than that though!) and is almost 18 inches long. I'm basically carrying a cantaloupe around in my tummy! If Blitzen were to be born at this point in my pregnancy then he or she would most likely be fine, maybe a couple days in the neonatal nursery but would, most likely, be perfectly healthy :) Courtney gave birth to Colt during this week in her pregnancy and he's fine so it's a comforting thought! Belly Pictures: With Zach traveling a lot I'm going to probably be doing a lot more solo mirror pictures here at the end of things! That means my belly stickers will be backwards :( sorry! You can REALLY tell a difference in my stomach now. I feel like all over I look bigge

34 Week OBGYN Visit

Saturday, October 29, 2011

In my efforts to meet all the midwives (since Stacy is gone on maternity leave) I met with Vicki for my appointment this week. I had met Vicki a couple times with my pregnancy with Kye and she's actually the one who put me into labor with him! She didn't mean to, but during my weekly check to see how far along I was I guess it gave me that extra push to start labor because my water broke soon after I got home! I went solo to this appointment as it wasn't anything major and Kye had school and Zach was out of town. I brought along my birth plan but didn't have any questions this week, so I knew it'd be a quick visit. Vicki came in and introduced herself and I told her I was making the rounds to meet everyone since Stacy is gone. We chatted a bit and I told her I didn't have any questions but that I'm still having a lot of lower back pain which I know is normal. She said that strong Braxton Hicks are often common with second pregnancies (check!). I told her I

Dramatic Evening

Friday, October 28, 2011

Zach has been out of town all this week (he's coming home tonight thank the LORD). During this time of the year he has to be gone quite a bit as it's his biggest time with Aflac and a lot of his bigger accounts are spread out all over the southeast. In years past I've gone with him and even last year we made a family trip out of it. This year travel really isn't an option for me so I've been at home a lot with Kye on my own. I think I do pretty well handling it...I don't get nearly as scared as I used to. We live on a MEGA busy corner and have an awesome alarm system so it helps me to feel safe. While Zach's gone I always deadbolt all the doors and set the alarm on "instant" so it'll go off if anyone even opens a door. I still don't sleep well (most nights I can fall asleep until 12 or 1!) but overall I feel safe. Last night Kye and I went to eat at Mrs. Charlotte's to celebrate Brad's birthday and while we were there a thought

School Service Day

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Kye goes to school only three days a week, but his school offers classes for five days a week. So far, this hasn't meant that Kye has missed out on anything for the two days he doesn't go, until Service Day came! It was on a Thursday and, since Kye doesn't go to school on Thursdays, they invited me to bring him up there so he could experience the fun! They had an ambulance, fire truck, and police car at the school with each professional giving a 15 min or so lesson to the kids. It was very educational and a great chance to see some trucks...with a two year old trucks are where it's at ;) We had a fun play-date at Chickfila that morning then headed up to the school and joined in with one of the classes during their presentations. First up was the ambulance! I even learned a little something...did you know when an ambulance or funeral or anything else is coming that you are supposed to pull over to the right side of the road? Even if you're in the opposite lane o
