End of Kye's First Year of School

It's hard for me to believe that Kye's already finished up his first year of school! I'm SO glad we made the choice we did in sending him to school, even though he was only 2 1/2 when we did it. It has been wonderful for him to have a place of his "own" with his own friends and his own experiences. I think it helped a lot in the transition to being a big brother! For the 3 year old class next year we decided to still have him continue going only three days a week. I think that time away is important for him, but I also think it's important to have days at home too. On school days we rush home, eat, nap, then only have like an hour or so before I have to start cooking dinner and bedtime routine begins. That's not much time together and I enjoy the mornings when he doesn't have school!

Here are his spring school pictures (thanks to Phillip Walker Photography!)
We were in Disney for the fall pictures so these are the only ones from this school year
His class!
He keeps this on his board in his room :)
The last day of school (May 11th) they had PJ Day so Kye, of course, wanted to wear his Woody pjs. He was excited for his last day and I've explained to him that we won't go to school for a "long time" and when he goes back he'll have a new teacher and get to meet new friends! He really didn't seem sad one bit (boys! I got teary eyed when I picked him up!!!).

Last day of school!

Comparison from the first day (you can read about it here!) to the last day
Autumn and Nicki have been the perfect first teachers for Kye. I couldn't have asked for a better situation! Knowing Autumn personally (she took my delivery pictures of both kids!) really helped ease into the transition of letting go. I was pretty torn about what to do next year...they are moving up with the class but are teaching the 5 day class. Since we choose to keep him in 3 day he'll have a new teacher and pretty much all new kids in his class. I debated about it but I think those days home with me are more important than keeping things the same. He won't be moving up with the same kids and teachers in school later in life so why have him think it's the norm now? I am SO sad about not having Mrs Autumn and Mrs Nicki though as they were AWESOME! I love Carpenter's Kids as a whole though and I'm sure we'll love his new teacher too :)

Saying Goodbye to Mrs Autumn!
As her gift to the class Autumn gave each child a cd of pictures she took of them throughout the school year. Duh, I LOVED it!!!! Here are some of the ones from Kye's. Blogger uploaded them in a funky order but I'm too lazy to switch it all around :)

Haha love this from the first day of school!

Scratchin that tush!

This is blown up in black and white on display at the school!

Wacky Wednesday

These were for the Mom's Day card he gave me

It took me awhile to adjust to having Kye gone three mornings a week but I did enjoy having that time to myself while I was pregnant. I was able to run a lot of errands and schedule my dr visits while he was at school. Once Britt arrived it was nice enjoying some quality alone time with her. I'm not, however, one of those moms that is dreading summer. I'm LOVING having Kye home with me all the time and am excited about all the fun things we have planned!!! I'd like to think I'm tougher now than I was on his first day...but I wouldn't be surprised if I shed a few tears again when he goes back ;)
