The Parker House: Ready for Christmas!

I loved that Rachael put up pics of some of her Christmas decorations! Of course she did hers back in November and I’m just now doing mine but whatever! I’m a big fan of Christmas decorations but I’m also pretty hardcore about keeping my house looking like it always does. I just like simple things that add a touch of Christmas in every room. I’m my Nana’s grand-daughter no doubt πŸ˜‰ Luckily Zach agrees with me so even the outside of our house is simple yet, I think, tastefully decorated.

Here’s the outside!

little candy canes line the walkway and our little polar bear guards the path

(awesome after Christmas finds last year!)

I love how our house colors are perfect for Christmas! Here’s our front foyer table

I put up several of the house decorations while Zach was in Alabama and I had our dining room table set with no place mats and alternating red and silver chargers. When Zach got home one of the first things he said is that we need to do place mats haha! I love that my husband has opinions about stuff like that! He even helped me fold the napkins and decide what colors of ornaments to put in the glass vases πŸ™‚

We also bought our stockings last year after Christmas! I ran out this year and bought one more to match for baby #2 someday because I’d hate for that kid to not have a cute one to go with the set! I love them! I also bought the stocking hangers this year πŸ™‚

Here’s our tree…it’s not the best picture but I know we’ll get lots more once there are more presents!

With a little one in the picture now we wanted to add some new things to our Christmas traditions! When I babysat for the Murphey’s I liked how each of the kids had their own tree in their rooms to decorate how they wanted to. I think that’s a fun thing because it can be whatever they want it to be. This year we got Kye his little tree (only $4!) and three ornaments. I found the “K” at Target and the football one at Hobby Lobby ($1.99!) and I also ordered him a monkey one too πŸ™‚ Unless he has a hardcore thing he’s into next year I doubt I’ll buy him anymore because three is plenty for that small tree but eventually it’ll be fun to let him pick out one ornament a year for his tree! I also put colored lights on his tree as Zach and I prefer white ones on the outside and on our big tree.

Another thing we stole from the Murphey’s is the Christmas Elf tradition. I know they make an Elf on the Shelf thing but I think that elf is so ugly! I’ve been searching for a year and finally found a worth elf πŸ™‚ It’s really cute and by Annalee if anyone wants to copy πŸ™‚ This little guy will be watching Kye to make sure he is good for Santa and will report his findings to the North Pole. He will move around the house and sit in different locations throughout the Christmas season to make sure he’s always watching!

Pulling out all the Christmas stuff really makes me stop and remember being pregnant! I don’t often think back to that but I just remember last Christmas how much I LOVED our tree. I sat around soooo much and I would just lay on the couch admiring it. This year I have a very, very active little boy so I’m not sitting and admiring anything (other than this computer screen every free chance I have!). I love Christmas for such different reasons than I ever have before and I love that Kye is old enough to be a little involved, but next year he’ll be even more fun!!! There is NOTHING like being a family at Christmas!!!
