Outside Time

I know I’ve been an MIA blogger this week but I DO still have a giveaway going on! It ends SUNDAY so go over and enter to win NOW! Last I checked there are less than 10 entries…um that makes the odds of you winning super high!!! 🙂

I think as parents we ALL have areas we know we need to do better. One of those areas for me is outside play. I know it’s a random thing to struggle with. But I loathe sweating. Like my favorite form of exercise is swimming laps mostly because you don’t sweat 😉 We live in South Georgia. If you step outside for like 5 minutes you’re gonna sweat. I can’t stand it so therefore I’m picky about when I go outside. And I need to get over it…I KNOW it’s important for my children to go outside and play. Even if it’s a pain to put on sunscreen (and yes, I lather them up every time we go out). Even if it means I’m gonna get sweaty and gross. Even if it’s hot. And there are bugs. And I don’t fully enjoy it. Gotta sacrifice for the goodness of my children…that’s what being a mama is all about, am I right???

So I’ve been working on this! We have a good chunk of free time in the afternoons and Brittlynn is a lot happier if we go outside to play. Kye also loves it so I’m learning to enjoy this time more too!

Last time in the “baby” swing

Here’s a video of her

Getting to swing in the “big girl” swing

Brittlynn is a natural with swinging. I put her in the swing and she just knew what to do to get herself going…total swing genius 😉

Here’s a video of her!

We decided it was time for Kye to swing on a regular swing and no more bucket swing. He swings on the “big kid” ones at school and should at home as well.

He is NOT happy about it!!!

Sometimes just having one happy child is a win 😉

Getting to bring his cars outside to play made him a lot happier 😉

This child needs some GIRLY toys! I’m excited for her birthday and Christmas!!!

What activities do you do outside??? I wish we had a better spot for bike riding…Kye NEVER rides his bike! We live on the corner of a busy street and since we are on a corner our driveway is super small. Not much area for bike riding! I thought it’d be neat someday to maybe pour some concrete in the backyard…be able to use it for a basketball goal, an area to park extra cars if needed, place to play with chalk, and a place to ride bikes in the backyard!

Oh, we spend every afternoon outside. I can't keep them inside once naps are over! We have a sand table that both kids love, bubbles, and playing in the dirt (probably not your thing! ha!).

don't you really like laying out? how did you lay out before you had a pool? didn't you sweat a bunch then???typically, I like to lay out while they play, I read a book often while they play, and I bring some of their books out with me, in case they want a break from the playing they can read with me :)we play lots of games (red light/green light,,hide n seek, tag, scavenger hunts, make up our own games), they play on trampoline A LOT, and ride around on their Jeep, chase the dog and each other, man we for real LIVE outside, it keeps the house clean, fresh air is great for them, and I keep some color on my bod 🙂

As you know, if its pretty, we LIVE outside. Growing up, its all i knew! We didnt have cable and i hated playing inside all the time!Ok, ideas on what we do?: (some will apply only to kye but its something)-simon says/red light green light-dig in the dirt. ALOT. like, daily. they both have buckets and shovels and just go to town! -pick up and collect different kinds of acorns/leaves-sidewalk chalk-bubbles-water table is a DAILY summer activity. keeps them busy for usually an hour or so-baby pool (for real, just b/c you have a big one doesnt mean you have to let them use the big one all the time. get a plastic one w/ a slide and they'll LOVE it, too and you can stay dry/in the shade if you put it on the back porch-play catch/hit off the tee-we take the stroller/grocery cart outside b/c they love to collect crap and push it around-kick the ball around-rake leaves and they jump in them-ride bikes-go for walks-play chase-hide and go seek*keep in mind, for most of this, mack is just running around and "trying" to participate ;-)we do whatever interests them 😉 its fun, i promise! OH, and we eat lunch outside (i drag macks high chair on the back porch sometimes but now he's old enough to use the little picnic table) TONS in the summer/fall/spring

I HATE being outside. Gross. Do you have a lot of dog poop in the backyard or do you scoop it? We never do haha… We just mow it. (barf!) I have been taking the kids to the park almost everyday. Who would have thought it wears them out?! LOL
