For the second year in a row Kye decided to spend his Birthday at Disney rather than have an elaborate birthday party (he’s already informed me that he’d like a Star Wars themed party at our house for his 9th birthday so let the planning begin!). I really, really love this whole Disney option over party situation 😉 We always plan for a couple small trips a year to Disney anyway so why not just incorporate a birthday in there? We actually would be at Disney on Kye’s legit birthday so we celebrated as a family a few days before our trip and with Zach’s family a few days after we got back 🙂
My big boy!
Kye requested Olive Garden for his birthday dinner!
We are all about some free bread 😉
Eating out as a family of 5 ain’t cheap…luckily large portion sizes means we can share 😉
Whew. The service was INSANELY TERRIBLE. We got there at 4:45 and were there for 2 HOURS which is a JOKE especially b/c we sat down and ordered soon after! I’m so thankful for Kye as he never complains and always keeps things fun. He knows how to entertain his little sisters for sure and he was so funny with these stickers. Britt was mortified and Kye was just loving the looks he got from people haha
Tess got in on the sticker fun 🙂
Yup. He even rocked the stickers when they brought his (free!) birthday dessert.
No singing though. Which also annoyed us! (and you know we just sang anyway!)
When we left Zach was SO ANNOYED. And when Zach is annoyed he kinda can’t stop talking about his annoyances. So we agreed he’d do a couple IG stories…get the frustration out…and we’d move on. So here they are! Zach’s frustrations with Olive Garden story 1. And Zach’s frustrations with Olive Garden story 2 😉
Time for gifts!
He’s been wanting a “fit bit” so bad! I found this one on Amazon and it is great for his age (no bluetooth needed)
I was glad we decided to do gifts prior to our trip as the shirts I got him to wear at Disney counted as presents 😉
His haul! The great thing about Kye’s birthday is it’s decently close to Christmas so I’m able to find awesome deals while Christmas shopping or during clearance post-Christmas.
For his cake we made the DQ ice cream cake which is DELICIOUS.
boo for bad guys 😉
Zach made fun of me b/c I’ve had this candle for 11 years now. I used it for Zach’s birthday to put 85 on his cake and kept it. Don’t call me a pack rat…I’m just frugal 😉
After gifts and cake we all cuddled up to watch Kye’s Birthday Slideshow together.
I love quality time with my sweet boy!
For Kye’s bday celebration with the family we went for a simple box cake which I let Kye decorate (this was a genius idea on my part…b/c he told me all these crazy details he wanted me to magically design on his cake so I said “you can do it!” haha)
We all met at Cici’s and had a great time!
Using that candle ONE LAST TIME (Zach made me toss it haha!)
We had ONE last celebration at school. I took mini cupcakes and sugar cookies. I checked Britt out early so she could go with me to lunch with Kye and for his bday celebration. Poor Tessie was sick and it was a crazy day organizing everything but thankfully Zach was able to sit with her so I could go to Kye’s celebration!
This kid sure did enjoy SO many birthday celebrations!!! Of course nothing can top DISNEY 😉
So thankful for so many who love our sweet Kye as much as we do. He felt special and loved for his big 8th birthday!
