Getting to Know My Devising – www.mydevising.com

Hey!  I’m Claire and I’m the writer of My Devising.  I am a 26 year old wife to Colt, mom to 15-month-old Duke, piano teacher, and songwriter.  My Devising is where I write about it all.

The name of my blog comes from a Sara Teasdale poem.  Specifically, it comes from the line, “I will make this world of my devising.”  The short, non-poetic way I translate that is this:  Life is what you make it.  Our lives are made up of many moments, good and bad.  How we chose to soak them in and react to them is up to us.

I pretty much blog about anything and everything.  Once upon a time I thought about narrowing it down and writing about one thing, but I just couldn’t.  So, I like to sum it up as “life, motherhood, love, and music.”

I write about my daily happenings, my wonderful husband and son, what I do on weekends, running, music (my own and others’), etc.  But because of my role as a mom, I also write about staying at home, postpartum depression, breastfeeding, natural childbirth, cloth diapers, and Babywise.  Most recently, a lot of my posts have had to do with my sudden battle with anxiety.  It started back in July of 2012 and although it has been one of the hardest journeys of my life, it has been worth it.  The things I’ve learned and am learning have changed me.  Well, God has changed me.

What started out as just a fun way to keep up with college friends has truly turned into a blessing.  I blog because I want to remember, because I love to write, and because I hope to encourage others.  Looking forward to getting connected with some of you!
