Love Notes to Kids for Valentine’s Day: Easy DIY Valentine Ideas

Writing love notes to kids for Valentine’s Day is a fun and easy way to show them how much you care without having to break the bank!

We’ve never been HUGE on V-Day as a family. I don’t do any V-Day decorations or anything (hello, I just took down Christmas!) and we keep things simple and inexpensive (again…we just bought Christmas gifts!)

Zach and I are pretty hardcore about showing each other, and our children, how much we love them all year long. But Valentine’s Day is a good reminder to make sure we’re making each person feel special! I’m def not anti-Valentine’s Day, I just like to keep it simple 🙂 

One thing I saw on social media this year was cutting out hearts and writing reasons you love your children then taping them to their doors each night. When they wake up in the morning they have a heart waiting on their door and start off the day feeling special and loved!

You do this all 14 days leading up to V-Day! I LOVE the idea and it fits my guidelines of being simple, easy, and cheap 😉 Plus it’s a great way to make each child feel special and point out unique things about them that you cherish, appreciate and admire! You could even make it a new tradition!

So in honor of Valentine’s Day I thought I’d share my 14 hearts for each child in this post 🙂

I think you could definitely get more creative with the paper hearts but I did say I like to keep things simple and there’s nothing wrong with that 😉 it’s the messages that really count anyway!

I did NOT do 14 love notes for Zach on our bedroom door each night. And he mayyyy skip reading this post entirely because he’s already read all the love notes to the kids and may assume that’s all this post contains. But just in case here are my 14 love notes for him on Valentine’s Day 🙂 

1. I love that you are a man of God and that you strive to follow His Word and lead our family down the path of righteousness. 
2. I love how sexy you are. That everywhere you go everyone just stares and that all the ladies are jealous that I get to have you!
3. I love how hard you work to provide for our family and that you value my role as a stay at home mom enough to work extra hard to make it a reality. 
4. I love how seriously you take parenting. You never “babysit” our children. You PARENT them and love doing it!
5. I love how on the same page we are on all the big things in life. I love that we have the same goals and dreams and desires for our family. 
6. I love the way you watch me. The look in your eyes when you see me. I can feel the love coming from you!
7. I love your mad cooking skills and that you are the best at heating up things in the microwave for me 😉
8. I love how manly you are. You are strong and take charge and it’s HOTT
9. I love how annoyingly good you are at everything. 
10. I love that you always keep your priorities in line: God, Me, Kids. We never feel “less than” when it comes to you…you let us all know how important our time together is to you through your actions!
11. I love that you come to me to discuss decisions. You never “rule with an iron fist” and we are a TEAM on everything!
12. I love that you bring out a silly side in me and I love the silly moments we share when we’re unplugged from every day life and soaking in vacations together. 
13. I love that you are a man of CHARACTER. Who I can completely and totally trust. 
14. I love your outlook. Sometimes it’s annoyingly positive but I know that your positivity will bring about positive results too and I’m proud of you for always finding the good and having that mentality!
