Yay for the BEACH!

ALL Kye wanted to do on our little trip was to eat a picnic on the beach. He was SO pumped about it. He had told all of his class all about going to the beach and how excited he was. My heart was totally breaking that I couldn’t give him his wish on Valentine’s Day like we had planned. Literally…we prayed for nicer weather. It was SUCH a joy to have our prayers answered (and we made sure to thank the Lord for this blessing as well!).

On their way back to the hotel from putt-putt the guys stopped and picked up Chick-Fil-A. Yes. My child was in HEAVEN. His favorite food, on a picnic, at the beach?!?!? Britt was super happy too and did great eating her lunch!

I can totally hear her saying “this this” when I look at this picture!

My beach lovin’ babies!!!

He was SO happy. He was saying “YAY FOR THE BEACH!”

I love her little sunshine shirt since I always sing “You are my Sunshine” to her 🙂

And we matched! Which, I swear, was a LEGIT accident!

I have NEVER thought to go visit the beach other than in the heat of summer. I mean what’s the point if you can’t swim in the ocean, right? Wrong. Oh my gosh. This day was AMAZING. It was still cool (like in the 60s) but it was BEAUTIFUL. No sticky wet sand. No sweat. No itchy salt water eyes. Just pure FUN. I for real wanna do this again! Plus it wasn’t crowded AT ALL. And the hotel rates were so cheap since it was off-season 🙂 Since Britt had never been to the gulf before I did want to take her down to the water and at least dip her fingers in it so she can say she’s done it 😉 So we did!

THIS is my view all day every day. Child LOVES for me to hold her!

When we set up our picnic stuff Zach put it RIGHT next to a trash can. At first I was like “um gross” but then I realize it was genius. Made our clean up a BREEZE. He was hardcore about some sand castle building. Kye gathered and delivered the sand and Zach did the building. 🙂

I LOVE that the bucket he happened to bring from home was Nana’s. We gave out Welcome Baskets to our wedding guests who came from out of town and we made her a welcome basket as well. The “baskets” were actually pails 🙂 Cute idea huh? And I didn’t even have Pinterest back when I was a bride haha! Anyways when Nana passed away I got her bucket 🙂 Love to have those sweet reminders of her!

Zach also packed one shovel for the kids to use at the beach. Of course our hotel room was a crazy mess and Zach accidentally stepped on the shovel and broke it. You know how we roll…we borrowed the spoons from the hotel room and made it work 😉 The kids didn’t mind a bit!

I LOVE her little belly poking out! We just had fun walking and walking and walking.

Near our hotel was another hotel with a BIG chair on the beach so we wanted to get a couple pictures in it. In our family…everything is a competition. Which is NOT my style, but I’m learning to get into it 😉 Of course, we raced to the chair. At home we often raise to the bathroom for bath time, race to the kitchen for dinner, etc etc. Everything is a race and the kids crack me up at how much they love it!

I know I look like a straight up CRAZY person in this picture but its probably my favorite one of the day. We were laughing so hard in our race. And Britt was having such a fun time. We all were! And that makes me SO HAPPY!

A random drunk lady (we were in Panama City after all…made total sense to be wasted on a Friday at 10:30 am right?) offered to take some family pictures for us. Oh I LOVE any opportunity for a family photo 🙂

This is funny…I was saying “thank you!” b/c I thought she was done haha

Just to show how HUGE the chair was…Zach is 6’6″ tall!

Racing back!

Bless her heart. I told her we were racing and she tried to go fast but it’s tough to walk in sand and even tougher not to get distracted by all the fun that sand brings 🙂 Our walk back took like 15 min instead of 5 like it should have haha. I was surprised by how much Britt ENJOYED the sand. I thought it would bother her. When Kye was young he hated it b/c it gets everywhere. But Britt didn’t mind a bit. She loved touching it and only put it in her mouth once! And when she did I think Zach freaked out more than she did about it 😉

When we got back the castle was complete!

We got out to the beach close to 11:00 our time (we stay on our time even when changing time zones with the kids…makes life easier!) and had to go in because it was 12:45 and time for naps. Kye got SUPER upset about it. He did not want to go inside and did not want to leave the beach. We reminded him that we’ll get to go back to the beach in July but it wasn’t helping…I mean July IS a super long time away haha! Anyways we wanted to get a picture of the guys with their castle and it didn’t go so great. I also wanted a picture of Kye and I since I got so many with Britt. And he wasn’t really over his funk yet then either.

Britt didn’t mind the drama of Kye being upset. She sat quietly and did the typical little sister thing. She filled his shoes with sand hahaha

Even though he may have been a little unhappy about leaving, a good nap was FOR SURE what he needed. Zach and I enjoyed watching more of The Office while our babies slept and got ready to finish out our fun little get-away that evening!

I’m SO thankful we were able to enjoy the beach together! It was SO FUN and just writing this post makes me happy all over again 🙂 I truly value vacations with my little family over ANYTHING else. I pray that we can always keep these adventures as a top priority in our lives!

Cooper's favorite trips are the ones we take to PCB in May…just the three of us. We aren't able to go this year, but we are hoping to do a longer trip next May to make up for it. It is really so nice to be down there before school lets out…no crowds, perfect weather and lots of quality family time and it's so laid back! Glad y'all had such a great trip!
