Britt’s Bonnet

The kids and I were at the mall to meet the Easter Bunny (which failed because the bunny wasn’t THERE…more on that in another post…) and ended up running into The Children’s Place. I really do like that store. I get majority of Kye’s new clothes (b/c, duh, most of his clothes are used from the kids sales!) from there and have gotten a lot of cute stuff so far for Britt as well. You have to kinda be careful there with the girls stuff…it can look pretty sassy in my opinion. When we were there Kye actually picked out things for Britt and grabbed this hat. It was too cute to pass up! It’s great to throw on when we go outside to help protect her sweet little face from the sun.

look at those cheeks!!!

to me, there is nothing sweeter than a barefoot baby!

She’s loving the outdoors more and more! If only the dang mosquitoes would go away!!! What bug spray, if any, do you use for your babies?!?! I’ve been doing a lot of research on sunscreen and bug spray and it sounds like the California Baby brand is the safest of both, while also offering great protection. Kye wears sunscreen daily. I’m hardcore about protecting against skin cancer since my dad has had it! He’s always worn Coppertone Babies (the pink bottle) but I’m not sure how safe it is with the chemicals it has in it. I bought the Pure version of it this last time but am hoping to pick up the California Baby brand at Target tomorrow, assuming they have it. I’d love to hear what others do in this area!!!

I pretty much use whatever sunscreen we have on hand. Mostly the pink bottle, too 🙂 I like the clip on repellent for mosquito's from off. Clip it to the back of her diaper maybe? i havent looked into whether or not its safe b/c i havent used it yet for a kid (only for me so far just to try it out but for real, it works!) but if it is safe its great b/c it doesnt touch their skin w/ chemicals! And her hat? A-freakin-dorable! She is such a DOLL! Love those FAT cheeks, pug nose and blue eyes! mmmm… gotta see her in person so i can kiss those cheeks!

You can do a search on the cosmetics database on sunscreens.  I think BullFrog is a really safe one or something like that.  However, ask your dr at what age you can put it on them for the first time…ours said never before 6 months.  It's been a long time so I forget why, but I'm read it as well.  I'm a sunscreen advocate…melanoma on both sides as well as with close friends.  It's not an option for us.  We have really sensitive skin, so I buy neutrogena for myself.  I've bought Aveeno for the kids as well as neutrogena and water babies and something I got at Buy Buy Baby (the one I'm thinking of above, I got there).  Yes, we go through a lot of sunscreen.  And I have spray to get their feet and strap areas for the girls (as touch ups) as well as a face stick and lip balm stuff.  I'm normally very frugal, but sunscreen is one area I don't buy cheap…I buy brands I trust.  I guess by June there are new requirements on sunscreen bottles so brands might be disappearing.  I don't know much about bug spray with babies.  If you don't mind asking your doctor ask.  If you have a natural store check in there. I both bug bracelets for my kids to wear last year when we were camping.  My son (he's almost 12) is highly allergic to insect bites we learned last summer, so I'll be doing research and probably using more than one option.  My youngest (7) has very very very sensitive skin which she'll scratch and cause straph infections so once again, I don't want bug bites.Children's Place is a great place to get the basics for girls…leggings, some shoes, sunglasses (very cheap), hats, tights and jeans.  Her hat is precious.  I love me a good hat for kids especially little ones.  Regarding bug spray…we're are surprising our youngest with a day at MK on her 8th birthday at the end of July…are there bugs there?  Should I pack bug spray?  We've never been.  I was there before Epcot Center was finished (years before you were born).  We (hubby and I) are so excited.  We're stopping there on the way to a friend's condo in Bradenton.  🙂

Britt is TOO adorable in that hat! Love it! I also love California baby products. In my experience, they work well and they smell nice. Oh, and they are safe . . . can't forget that!
