Megow Beach Trip {Part 1}

Each year the Megow family plans a week long trip to Palm Coast, Florida. This year we got lucky enough to be invited to tag along! We went down on Wednesday June 22nd and stayed through the day they checked out, that Saturday morning. They had a two bedroom condo and we were a little nervous about sleeping arrangements. 4 adults and 4 kids can be tricky! We ended up putting Stevie and Neela together in the guest bedroom, Kye in the master bathroom, Titus in the master bedroom, and the adults on a fold out couch and air mattress in the living room. It’s pretty funny if you think about that – the 10 month old got the biggest room and didn’t even use the bed haha! The things we do to make sure our children get sound sleep 😉

We originally planned on leaving Wednesday morning but Zach really needed to work (our water bill has been $350 a MONTH so we’re stressing!) so we waited to leave until after Kye’s nap. When we got there they had dinner waiting (SO sweet!) and even bought each of us a little beach present.

They got Kye THE most violent, loud toy he’s owned to date (to be honest, I currently hide it from him…it’s LOUD)

Crissy and I had matching beach hats to lay out with!

Any sport makes Zach happy!

They even got Blitzen a present! I was interested to see what they got for him or her and when I opened it up it was a positive pregnancy test. My first thought was “duh I’m pregnant.” But then I realized in order for it to be positive that means CRISSY is also pregnant!!!! It was an AWESOME surprise and a great way to start the vacation!!!! Blitzen’s present was a new bff 🙂

The boys ran to Walmart to get “necessities” and by that I mean $80 worth of TOTAL junk food. One sweet thing was that they found Choco Tacos – my mega craving last time I was pregnant!!! I was pumped, and they were good but I really realized on that trip that I’m not craving sweets!!! I’d rather have had salty snacks!

I think our favorite parts of the trip were the nights together. It’s HARD with so many kids to ever get quality hang out time in and every night all the kids were in bed by 7:30ish so we had ALL NIGHT to joke around and play games. We even introduced them to Tripoli and, while Crissy hates learning anything new haha, they liked it!!!

Girls dominated our first night: Crissy WON and I came in 2nd!!!

Zach and his nose came in 3rd

Proud to be last 😉

Thursday morning we had beach plans! Titus still takes a morning nap and I have so much respect for them for sticking to their schedule while away from home. It makes for happier kids which means happier parents too! While Titus took his morning nap Crissy and I hung out and the guys took the other kids to play putt-putt on the condo property. Here’s some pictures from their adventure:

Mullet Attack!

Kye + Stevie = Croc Wearing BFFs

at least Kye’s concentrating on the hole!

Neela was there too, but not a single picture they took showed her golfing haha

Once Titus woke up it was time to head to the beach!!! Palm Coast has a BEAUTIFUL beach and we enjoyed it way better than Fort Walton! The kids had a BLAST and probably could have hung out there all day!!!

Our Beach Babies:

Kye

Titus

Neela

Stevie

Daddies keeping a watchful eye

Kye enjoyed walking out in the water and just walking right back

Playing with Uncle Zach

I enjoyed playing in the water much more than usual…it was just a GREAT beach! No big rocks, seaweed, or steep drop offs. The sand was so pretty and the water was the perfect calmness to where we didn’t have to worry about big waves stealing our children away.

I played a lot of chase

Yes, Crissy IS pregnant…so jealous of that bod!!!!

I like how you can see Crissy and Neela in the background of this one

Tomboy Stevie content with Kye’s truck

Lunch Break!

These birds were MEGA aggressive…they actually even came onto our blanket and stole some chips right out of the bag!

Can’t you tell he had a blast?

Something I really cherish about our friendship with Seth and Crissy is that we are ALL friends. I love that Zach and Crissy can be together and Seth and I can be together and it’s not awkward. Usually with couples the girls are together and the guys are together ya know? But I LOVE that we all four are actual legit friends. I’ve talked to Seth on the phone plenty of times and feel just as comfortable hanging out with him as I do Crissy. It made the trip that much smoother because we always had someone to be talking to and having fun together with!

Giving the boys some beach time together

Taking the bffs out to the water

This trip also gave me time to bond with their kids in a way I don’t normally get to do. You know how play-dates go, you watch your kid and your friends watch their kids. Stevie and I spent some fun times together and I REALLY had fun with her. She’s got a personality similar to mine and it made me really want a daughter. I LOVE Kye’s personality and love how fun he is, but he’s a boy and is obviously a lot different from me. It was neat to get to interact with another toddler and see the differences in them. Stevie took to me as well and it was so cute when she’d tell me she loved me. I told her we’re bffs and I loved the big grin she’d give me in return!

A few last dips in the water before heading back!

A happy beach bum heading back to the condo!

I’d say it was a VERY successful beach trip! We ended up not going back for a second one, so I’m glad that it went so great and that so many fun memories were made! More from our vaca coming up!
